It was 5’o clock in the morning. I sat in the tent that
stored the ammunitions. Staring at the picture of my family. There was my wife
and my son, smiling back. I didn’t reciprocate the smiles. All I did was cry.
“Sir? Are you alright?
“What?”, I snapped out of my trance.
“ Sorry, it’s just that you didn’t seem alright?”
“ Yeah, I’m fine”, I quickly said.
“Okay then, I’ll see you out there”, he said.
“You too”, I said.
The man left. Now I couldn’t help but smile back at the photo. This choice was always so hard. But now it feels that all of a sudden it’s as easy as choosing between life and death.
“I’m coming back, no matter what!”, I promised. I picked my gear up and walked out with my newly found determination.
